Abstract
Egypt is undergoing a rapid demographic transition. The number of people above the age of 65 has increased significantly in the last decades and currently stands at 4 million. This transition is putting enormous strain on the families and carers of older people, especially those suffering from dementia. Traditionally the family has been the main source of support and care for older people, however this is changing rapidly. Dementia is no longer perceived as a normal ageing process and patients and families are encouraged to seek medical/psychiatric treatment. To access this article, please c
