Medical Crises in Older People was a 5 year project funded by a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) programme grant, hosted in the Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing, School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, between 2008 and 2013.

About the MCOP programme

Medical Crises in Older People was a 5 year project funded by a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) programme grant, hosted in the Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing, School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, between 2008 and 2013.

Project workstreams

The project comprised three workstreams, concerning the delivery of comprehensive geriatric assessment to the following groups of patients:

  1. frail older people discharged from acute medical units
  2. older people in acute hospitals with co-morbid mental health problems
  3. residents of care homes
