To the Editor: Malnutrition is a broad term commonly used as an alternative to undernutrition, but technically it also refers to overnutrition.1 Several studies have examined the prevalence of malnutrition in institutionalized elderly people and reported diverse results.2 In addition to undernutrition, the increasing prevalence of obesity in nursing homes and substantial variation of obesity prevalence within facilities raise concerns about nursing home preparedness and access.3 Hence, the objective was to determine malnutrition and its risk factors in nursing home residents in Cairo.
