Aims and scope[عدل]
WikiJournal of Medicine (formerly Wikiversity Journal of Medicine) is a peer reviewed scientific journal in medicine and biomedicine. It is open access with no publication cost for authors.
The journal has two goals. Its main objective is to gather and provide free access to high-quality, peer reviewed medical knowledge. Secondarily, it also aims to use such knowledge to improve Wikipedia articles, or Wikimedia Foundation projects.
Therefore, the journal publishes both original research, and review articles in various formats. WikiJournal enables academic and medical professionals to contribute expert knowledge to the Wikimedia movement in the academic publishing format that directly rewards scholars with cite-able publications. The journal is Crossref registered and the included works are assigned DOI codes (permanent links to each work) alongside being indexed by Google Scholar and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Any work that is then included in Wikipedia is cited by the encyclopaedia, so that readers can find the peer-reviewed PDF.
The journal targets the a broad population spanning from advanced researchers and clinicians to students and laypersons, wherein the latter can get quick explanations of advanced terms by in-line links to Wikipedia.
