تحدثنا المؤتمرات والمقالات والنقاشات عن فوائد ومزايا ونتائج الأدوية ونتداولها بكثرة فمثلا يتم كاتبتها لأغلب إن لم يكن كل المرضى المنومين بالمستشفيات وخصوصا المسنين ومرضى الرعايات المركزة "كنوع من الوقاية" وبفرضية "بدواء آمن". ولكن من غير المتحدث عنه (بكثرة مماثلة للمزايا) العيوب المحتملة أو المؤكدة. مثلا في فئات محددة مثل المسنين قد تكون مميتة مشاكل البصر أو التداخل الدوائي مع الكلوبيدوجريل أو الهشاشة او مشاكل أمراض الدم. أو فاعلية الدواء في فئات محددة مثل المواليد أقل من عام. وغير ذلك مما لو تم تداوله لأحجم العديد من الأطباء (الوالمرضى الذين يستخدمونه دون وصفات) عن إستعمال هذه الأدوية إلا لوجود سبب واضح محدد. ما ننادي به هو ترشيد هذه الأدوية في إستخدامها فقط عند وجود حاجة مؤكدة وبواسطة الأطباء فقط. والحد من إستخدامها عند المسنين أو إستخدامها بحذر بالذات في من لديهم أو عرضة لمشاكل الإبصار أو جلطات القلب. والوعي بإحتمالية رفعها لنسب الوفيات وبالتالي عدم وصفها إلا في وجود سبب واضح حقيقي. وأيضا مراجعة التوصيات بإستخدامها للوقاية أو لتقليل إزعاج أدوية المسكنات NSAID في المسنين بالخصوص. فهذه التوصية مشهورة وتحتاج لمراجعة بسبب خطورة هذا الأدوية في المسنين وبالتالي عدم وصفها إلا بعد مقارنة الفوائد والمخاطر.--احمد شوقي محمدين 06:00، 21 أكتوبر 2016 (ت ع م)
